The City of Kent Human Resources Department provides partnership for the development of strategic and operational aspects relating to human resource development. The key focus of this department is on employee relations, recruitment, compensation, and benefits.
Responsibilities
The Human Resources Director coordinates employment related disputes, including all grievances and disciplinary actions as well as representing the City Administration with issues associated with collective bargaining agreements and other union matters. The Human Resources Director is appointed by and reports directly to the City Manager.
The responsibilities of the Human Resources Department include employment selection and recruitment, evaluation of compensation, employee records, administration of employee assistance program, and oversight of drug and alcohol testing. The Human Resources Department also administers all employee benefits including medical insurance, enrollment, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and Workers’ Compensation. The Director serves as the liaison with the Civil Service Commission.
